Research and Development Internship
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Research & Development Intern is responsible for a short duration chemistry or process project. Typically, 3-4 months in duration
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Take ownership of an R&D chemistry or process project under supervision of a Senior Chemist.
• Perform simple to moderately complex tests and analyses on raw materials, R&D samples, and products.
• Perform quality control tests on ingredients, completed products and product samples.
• Participate in developing test plans, setup, conduct and document tests in the laboratory.
• Perform all work in accordance with Environmental Health & Safety guidelines and be a strong and active contributor to Standard Operating Procedures of lab test set-up.
• Maintain a tidy work area in compliance with 5S standards.
• Maintain complete and accurate records of all work. With periodic guidance, provide data for formal reports (oral and written) of all work. Take initiative to communicate work progress with team members.
• Additional safety, quality, and manufacturing support as needed.
• All other duties, as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
o Current undergraduate student attending an accredited college in chemistry or related field. o Chemistry, polymer science or engineering major desired. Knowledge & Skills
o Capable of working independently to manage day-to-day tasks.
o Advanced user type understanding of the Microsoft Office 365 & Suites: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
o Creativity in approaching complex challenges and problems.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
o Ability to work effectively with team members who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines and communication styles.
o Good written and oral communication.
o Advanced user type understanding of the Microsoft Office 365 & Suites: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.

o Strong organizational and time-management skills, including ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
