The Diagnostic Imaging Department has been a tier 1 department in employee engagement for four years and they have an outstanding close-knit team driven by teamwork. Due to VHC’s Level II Trauma Center designation, this department sees patients with varying conditions. If you like challenging work, you will fit right in! They have 4 major facets to their operation – outpatients, inpatients, ED patients and OR patients. You can expect to see procedures such as UGI’s, Modified Barium swallows, VCUGs, cystograms, arthrograms, portable radiography, operating room radiography and routine radiography. As a teaching department, you will work alongside many students while they complete their college clinical requirements and many will be hired after graduation. Qualifications

  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or AART eligible (to be obtained within 6 months of employment) 
  • Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology Required. 
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification required.
  • New Graduates are welcomed and encouraged to apply! 


Responsibilities

  • Knowledgeable of all Radiology equipment. Be assertive in determining correct use of any equipment through in-service or instruction from supervisor. Assists in troubleshooting all radiographic equipment. 
  • Review preparation activities with the Radiologist prior to performing an invasive, fluoro, or contrast procedure. 
  • Always explain procedure to the patient using terms they will understand, depending on the age and maturity level, when appropriate.
  • Use collimation and shielding on all patients. Provide lead aprons or other protection to persons near x-ray exposure.
  • Keep patients and designated family members informed at all times of the patient's conditions and/or delays in procedures.
