Behavior Health Technician

ABOUT YOUR ROLE:
  • Provide one-to-one mental health interventions to children and adolescents between the ages of twenty-four months and twenty-one years’ old who are confronted with serious, identified, emotional, and/or behavioral disturbances.
  • Improve independent age-appropriate functioning to levels which require less or no service intervention
  • Attempt to transfer skills to the child/adolescent and parents

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
As addressed in the IBHS service description and stated in the BHT Individual Services Training Manual, January 1, 2021, individuals who provide services through BHT-ABA shall meet one of the following:
  • Certified as a BCaBA, RBT or BCAT (only one is required)
  • Behavior health certification or behavior analysis certification from an organization that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute
  • High school diploma or the equivalent and have completed a 40-hour training covering the RBT Task List as evidenced by a certification that includes the name of the responsible trainer, who is certified as a BCBA or BCaBA
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in providing ABA services and a minimum of 40 hours of training related to ABA

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Language skills
  • Read and analyze treatment plans
  • Respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries regarding clients and/or families
  • Document data and effectively consult with the lead clinician both verbally and in writing
  • Transfer skills to the caregiver
  • Mathematical skills
  • Understand and apply general math skills
  • Reasoning ability skills
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, implement effective intervention from the treatment plan, and draw valid conclusions
  •  Computer skills
  • Possess the ability and understanding in operating a computer
  • Knowledge of how to use email communications
  • Knowledge of how to open Word and Excel attachments
  • If no BHT-ABA services have been previously provided, completion of at least 30 hours of department-approved training prior to providing services independently
  • If no BHT-ABA services have been previously provided, completion of at least 24 hours of department-approved training within the first 6 months of providing BHT-ABA services
  • Complete at least 20 hours of training annually related to job functions and is in accordance with the training plan
  • Maintain confidentiality in all client related matters at all times
  • Follow schedules and meet established deadlines
  • Must have Pennsylvania Criminal, Child Abuse, and FBI Clearances
  • Travel up to 50% of the time
  • Analyze complex issues and make good decisions
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, families, and other employees
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats
  • Organize and plan in a methodical systematic approach
