BriteLife Recovery LLC’s corporate headquarters are in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. The company offers a full continuum of substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health services for adults 18 and older living with substance use and alcoholism. Overview of the Position:
The Recreation Clinician is responsible for utilizing leisure activities and groups to help clients with substance use and mental health concerns. Through the use of therapeutic Games, sports, crafts, group activities, and in vivo outings they present clients with healthy options to fill free time, identify triggers and develop coping skills that enhance their physical and emotional well-being. Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary treatment team, the Recreation Clinician ensures clients have the opportunity to participate in recreational programming. 
Primary Tasks:
  • Assess client needs, through the use of medical records, personal observation and talks with the client and his or her loved ones.
  • Execute a therapeutic program targeted toward the client's treatment needs. This can entail a variety of activities, so clinicians need to keep current on communal and therapeutic resources available to best help their clients.
  • Clinicians also document a client's progress during their activities.
  • Focus on their client's community integration as they prepare to discharge from treatment.
  • Develop a schedule for daily recreation programming.
  • Develop recreation therapy group programming to educate clients on the role of recreation in recovery.
  • Identify therapeutic off-site recreational activities and creating a schedule for clients.
  • Create a plan for In vivo activities to assist clients in identify triggers, develop strategies to cope with these situation.

Requirements:


  • Job Type: Full Time


  • Ability to assess, plan services, and deliver services to individuals in need of substance use treatment.


  • Ability to establish rapport, systematically gather data, determine the readiness for individual treatment and change, and apply accepted criteria for diagnosis of substance use disorders.


  • Ability to screen for danger to self or others.


  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to determine treatment recommendations and priorities.


  • Demonstrated adherence to acceptable ethical and behavioral standards of conduct.


  • Participation in continuing Professional Development.


  • Ability to formulate mutually agreed upon, measurable treatment goals and objectives in conjunction with the individual served.


  • Ability to provide education and information to individuals and groups, through formal and/or informal processes, concerning the role of recreation in their recovery from substance use.


  • Ability to identify client needs that cannot be met by the counselor or agency and assists clients to utilize the support systems and community resources available.


  • Demonstrated knowledge of accepted principles of client record management.


  • Ability to uphold strong boundaries and adhere to ethical obligations 


 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic recreation or Bachelor’s Degree Recreation with a Therapeutic Concentration Preferred
  • Must have NCTRC or have the require background to sit for the certification
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in the substance misuse treatment field.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency.
