Emergency Management Coordinator

Emergency Management Coordinator
Department of Public Safety
The Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) is responsible for the administration of the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s (UNO’s) emergency management program and emergency operations plan. The EMC will coordinate emergency response and crisis management activities, provide emergency preparedness training, conduct disaster drills and exercises, prepare emergency plans and procedures for natural, manmade, or technological emergencies, and work with event planners for hazard mitigation and response planning for major events. The EMC reports to the Emergency Management division within the University of Nebraska at Omaha Department of Public Safety (UNODPS). The EMC is a self-driven, effective communicator who works collaboratively with University, local, state, Federal, and not-for-profit organizations to establish and maintain critical incident mitigation, preparation, response and recovery strategies, and ensures University compliance with federal, state and local laws, rules, regulations and planning recommendations. The EMC is required to react promptly, appropriately, and decisively in a crisis situation, and provide leadership when needed in an emergency.
Minimum Qualifications:                                                                                                                       
·       Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Public Administration or related field
·       3 years of experience working in an emergency management role or other related experience. 
·       Superior knowledge of emergency management planning and practices. 
·       Excellent verbal, written, and technological communication skills is required.

Salary Information:  $65,00 - $80,000/year
