Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Research is seeking an Equipment Engineer to support the Center for Semiconductor Research in Albany New York. Applicants will be part of a team driving the specification, design and installation of state–of–the–art Semiconductor process and measurement equipment. They will support successful daily operations of the facilities, fab support systems and existing tooling to achieve critical research deliverables and ensure a safe fab environment.In this role, engineers will work collaboratively with IBM development teams, tooling vendors,and site facilities to meet challenging installation timelines for new tooling and upgrades with a focus on ensuring both technical and safety requirements are met. The team is responsible for end–to–end tooling definition from concept to installation.This role provides the opportunity to join a world class team responsible for defining and delivering2nm and beyond technology and the required infrastructure to support IBM Research and its partners.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering or other related discipline
- Strong MS Office Skills – Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to drive cross–functional teams
- Must have working knowledge of multiple disciplines of fab process tooling, facility support systems, and fab architecture
- Strong documentation and organization skills
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- One (1) to three (3) years of experiences in semiconductor Fab environment with exposure to multiple tooling and support system types
- Ability to communicate electronically and verbally to suppliers, vendors, contractors (trades) and partner companies
- Experience in Health and Safety practices and procedures in a Fab or Lab environment
- Skills in electrical, mechanical, chemical, HVAC, building controls and UHP gas designs
- MS Project or other planning software experience
- Experience in fab design and planning, AutoCAD
- Basic understanding of advanced semiconductor materials processing and MES systems

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
