Accountant
Fahrenheit Advisors is assisting our client, The Longwood University Foundation, in the search for a Staff Accountant. This role is responsible for assisting the Controller with accounting functions and ensuring fiscal responsibility on all levels. Responsibilities:
- Timely delivery of accounting services including preparing month-end journal entries and performing balance sheet and income statement reconciliations
- Maintain the general ledger, financial reporting, and cash receipts and disbursements
- Ensure that balance sheet accounts are reconciled in time for month-end close, and cash receipts are coded accurately and processed
- Assist the Controller with preparation for tax, audit and regulatory reporting
- Review and post transactions
- Record gain or loss on stock gifts, cash receipts, mitigation banking sales entries and fixed asset entries
- Manage scholarship award process and work with university staff and faculty to award scholarships
Requirements:
- BS in accounting or related business degree
- 2-5 years’ experience in an accounting role with increasing responsibility
- Must be a results-oriented professional and have the ability to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of financial data
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Focus on customer service and the ability to work in a team environment with stakeholders across the organization
- Ability to adapt to rapid change in a positive manner
