Business Development Specialist- Consumer Products

RTI Innovation Advisors (IA) is seeking individuals who are passionate about consumer products technology and new product innovation. IA helps clients turn market and technology insights into new products, services and technologies that have meaningful human and business impact. We help our clients—large and mid-sized corporations, federal agencies, and foundations—innovate by providing technology, user, and market insights; exploring complex futures; and accelerating technology from idea to market. 

 

The Business Development Specialist (BDS) plays an integral role in our strategic customer acquisition and sector growth goals. You’ll be communicating daily with senior executives in some of the world’s largest organizations, effectively engaging with them to help them meet the business outcomes they are trying to achieve. 

 

This is the opportunity to take the next step in your sales career. In this role, you will work in close collaboration with our senior team, developing and executing effective lead nurturing programs. 

 

You will generate well-qualified customer leads, gaining commitment from well-defined targeted personas – driving opportunities for our Consumer Products Sector team.  

 

This is not a high volume, cold calling position. Our methodology focuses on quality over quantity. The prospects you will contact will be carefully targeted. The outreach methods used are meant to create and cultivate a relationship, not pester or overwhelm.

 

Location: Remote U.S. Preferred location is hybrid worker based in Research Triangle Park, NC region.






 

Responsibilities

You will make an impact by being responsible for: 


  • Conducting targeted, thoughtful outreach into new business acquisition accounts

  • Creating and maintaining outreach and engagement strategies with identified companies that includes identifying key roles, aligning and qualifying business needs with our services, and identifying the internal buyer and related stakeholders

  • Utilizing question-based methods to engage with prospect personas

  • Becoming an expert in delivering the IA value proposition from use-case, industry, and functional role perspectives 

  • Differentiating IA’s solutions from competing products and solutions 

  • Gaining commitment from the prospect to engage in a follow-up meeting to learn more about the benefits of IA and how we can impact their organization  

  • Maintaining comprehensive and accurate records of all activities and conversations in required systems 

  • Taking responsibility for key activity metrics: 

  • Phone calls, emails, and social networking 

  • Meetings, opportunities created, and pipeline revenue 

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field relevant to Consumer Products.

  • At least two years of industry experience working in technical or sales roles in the Consumer Products sector; OR at least two years of experience working in consulting or professional services firms in the Consumer Products sector.

  • A consistent track record of achieving challenging targets for customer meetings that deliver pipeline value

  • LinkedIn Sales Navigator – Persona Identification and Message Outreach

  • ZoomInfo – Contact / Data Information

  • Ability to empathize with prospect’s needs, actively engage and listen in an exploratory dialogue to understand their worldview and determine whether the change they are seeking to make is a good fit for our innovation services and value proposition


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Degree in a relevant scientific, technical, or engineering field.

  • Advanced degree in Business Management, Marketing, Innovation, or related discipline.

  • Experience selling consulting services.


 

 

 
Compensation:


  • Compensation based on competitive market offerings and experience.

  • Compensation will be a blend of base salary (range shown below) and commission based on measurable goals and quotas.

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below. Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States.
