Property Assessment Supervisor

The Department of Revenue is looking for a self-motivated individual with great communication skills, problem-solving skills, and analytical skills for a challenging and rewarding position as a Property Assessment Supervisor. This position offers the opportunity to work with diverse groups, including municipal government officials, property owners, and professional assessment and appraisal organizations.

Position Summary

This position supervises staff in our Green Bay Manufacturing & Utility District. The position is responsible for the annual valuation of manufacturing real estate and personal property, and telecommunications real estate located in the Green Bay District. The position also participates in improving the administration of the assessment process. The position performs supervisory and advanced property assessment and appraisal work directing the Manufacturing & Utility program in the district office.

Salary Information

Salary will be between $38.00 per hour ($79,040 annually) and $44.00 per hour ($91,520 annually) depending on experience and qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Current state employees' pay will be set in accordance with pay upon appointment provisions for the compensation plan. This position is in pay schedule 81, pay range 02. A two-year Career Executive trial period is required.


Job Details

The department will conduct a background check, fingerprint check and tax compliance check on all finalists. Interview results may be reused in accordance with the State of WI interview reuse policy.

Remote/Telework up to 60%. Note: During probation you can gradually increase up to 60% based on performance and workload needs.

Headquarter Office Location: This position is headquartered in the Green Bay State Office Building located at 200 N Jefferson St in the City of Green Bay.

Qualifications

Please address the following in your cover letter and/or résumé:

Minimum Requirements: 
  • Knowledge of state laws, rules and regulations pertaining to property assessment and taxation.
  • Experience in real estate appraisal and valuation.
  • Experience reviewing employee's work.

In addition to meeting minimum qualifications, well-qualified candidates will also have one or more of the following:
  • Experience appraising commercial/industrial property and personal property.
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing real estate sales, statistical analysis, and real estate appraisals.
  • Experience writing and reviewing property assessment appeal decisions.
  • Experience using computer systems and real estate valuation software related to appraisal or property assessment.
  • Experience developing training material and conducting training courses.

Special Requirements
  • Must possess Wisconsin Assessor Certification at the Assessor II level at the time of appointment
  • Position requires residency within Wisconsin. (sec. 73.05, Wis. Stats.)
