Camp Social Worker | Austin Sunshine Camps

At Austin Sunshine Camps our main focus is to provide our campers with an environment where they are able to safely GROW, CONNECT, and EXPLORE. The role of the Camp Social Worker will be to ensure the mental health, emotional, social, and physical safety of campers and staff. During pre-summer staff training, the Camp Social Worker will provide summer staff members with tools on how to respond appropriately in times of mental and emotional crises by using a trauma-informed approach.

During and following summer camp sessions, the Camp Social Worker will provide support to the camp staff via one-on-one and large group sessions to ensure our staff members’ ongoing mental health and overall emotional well-being.

While camp is in session, the Camp Social Worker will also be the primary resource during any on-site mental health crisis interventions, as well as any needed follow up. The Camp Social Worker will work alongside the Camp Directors to develop action plans for campers in order for them to have successful camp sessions. The Camp Social Worker will work directly with the Program Director to ensure that programming is aligned with the highest level of standards when it pertains to mental health and behavioral interventions.
