Paid Accounting Intern
NOVA Parks is seeking an Accounting Intern, either enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate accounting program, to work in the Finance and Accounting department for the upcoming 2023 summer break. This opportunity provides the chance to gain valuable experience, under guidance, performing duties of accounts receivable, entering journal entries, general ledger accounting, learning about Point of Sales systems, providing general support to the Finance department, and learning how a Finance department supports the overall organization. This paid internship offers a flexible work schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, for eight hours per day, at any time between the hours of 6:30am at the earliest to no later than 5:30pm. The intern will report to the HQ office in Fairfax Station, VA. Please submit your resume and transcript through Handshake. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Excel and eager to learn. There is an opportunity to return as a Winter Intern.
This is a paid position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Accounting for cash receipts and receivables •Creating journal entries • Month-end reconciliations • Assistance with year-end financial statement audit • Additional accounting related tasks/projects and support to the department • Learn and use accounting software and other sub-ledgers
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Undergraduate accounting student intending to pursue a degree in accounting; or a student currently enrolled in a Masters in accounting program • Organized and detail-oriented; willingness and desire to learn new skills/concepts quickly • Knowledge of MS Excel •Available to work from May-August 2023
