Post-Doctoral Fellow - Flow Chemistry and Digitalization

We seek a motivated, enthusiastic, and creative Post-Doctoral Fellow to join our Chemical Development Department located in Ridgefield, CT. This position is part of the global Boehringer Ingelheim Post-Doctoral Program - https://careers.boehringer-ingelheim.com/post-doc/.
As a Post-Doctoral Fellow, you will be a primary driver of an innovative research project developing and applying improved chemical engineering and computer programming to create autonomous reaction platforms and accelerate the transfer and scale-up of clinical candidates from the lab to the plant. The candidate will ultimately provide creative solutions to enable the next generation of medicines that will improve the quality of life for patients.
A strong background in computing science and chemical engineering is ideal for this position, along with working skills in a multidisciplinary environment. We expect Post-Doctoral Fellows to independently conduct research and publish their findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Work in a team on expanding an autonomous flow reaction platform that automatically screens chemical conditions and optimizes chemical processes using complex algorithms.
  • Provide input to create, organize, and execute a research project in pharma 4.0 to improve new chemical entities manufacturing processes.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Publish results in peer-reviewed scientific journals and present data at scientific conferences.
  • Comply with all applicable regulations, perform all work safely, and maintain proper records according to SOPs and policies.
 
Desired Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience with Python programming and scientific libraries, LabVIEW, and MATLAB.
  • A track record of publications in the application of modeling, data science, and automation of chemical or biochemical processes is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SQL database, reaction kinetics, and multivariate spectroscopy modeling.
  • Experience in chemical engineering and programming of robotic and autonomous systems.
  • Good knowledge of the scientific area of responsibility; ability to ask critical scientific questions and critique devised hypotheses.
 
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering or chemistry with a good publication record.
  • Ability to work independently, design, and execute experimental strategies to advance projects.
  • Demonstrated creativity and novel approaches to solving scientific problems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
