Agricultural commodity grader-student trainee assists commodity graders with conducting commodity grading and/or certification functions. Receives on-the-job training in the technical aspects for preparation as an Agricultural Commodity Grader for Poultry.
The duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Performs subsidiary phases of grading and certification work, as required, to obtain the necessary on-the-job training.
- Examine product to determine adherence with contracts, such as grade, weight, packing and quantity.
- Applies, or oversees the application of the official grade markings to labels, packaging materials, and other materials identifying the product's quality.
- Examines several types of poultry and eggs, by applying official standards and regulations.
- Studies rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing the grading and certification of poultry and egg products.
Educational Qualification:
Completion of 2 full academic years (60 semester or 90 quarter hours) of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
- An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as a minimum of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours at an accredited college or university; OR
- A minimum of 36 weeks at an accredited business, technical, vocational, or qualifying educational institution for at least 20 classroom hours per week.
