Financial Controls/SOX Internship

The Opportunity:

Ferguson is seeking candidates for a Financial Controls/SOX Internship. This paid internship can be performed remotely, will include working hours between 8:00am-5:00pm EST and offers approximately 40 hours per week. Additionally, travel to Ferguson's corporate office in Newport News, VA may be required throughout this internship.

Over the course of the internship, you will be exposed to a variety of facets within Ferguson’s Internal Audit team, through practical experiences supplementing your classroom education. We approach training from a hands-on perspective and believe in growing our associates from the ground up! Through this internship program with Ferguson, you will:

  • Work with Audit Leadership to learn about their processes to perform high quality audits covering financial controls compliance.
  • Learn to communicate effectively and build relationships through collaboration with IT Audit team members. 
  • Apply both professional and Ferguson Internal auditing principles and standards to test and evaluate records and operational systems. You will also produce documentation to highlight tests performed, results, and conclusions. 

Qualifications:

  • Senior or rising senior attending a 4-year university, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Pursing CPA and/or CIA certification 
  • Experience with internal controls or SOX related matters including system/process documentation techniques is preferred

Other qualities of a successful intern are:

  • Interpersonal and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to engage, encourage, and influence people at all levels
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and handle deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
