Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Intern

Position Overview: 
Title: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Intern 
Reports to: Senior Director of Global Inclusion and Culture 
Location: Remote (Virtual), In- Person (Norwalk, CT), or Hybrid 
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) internship will give you hands-on experience creating a more inclusive and equitable workplace that supports team member diversity. Working closely with our global DEI team, you will work on projects that have a tangible impact on our business and customers.  

In this role, you will help us achieve our DEI goals by collaborating with business partners across multiple functions to build and refine DEI resources. 

The DEI team drives persistent leadership engagement, builds systemic organizational change, and improves the hiring and promotion of underrepresented groups.  

This internship is ideal for someone interested in pursuing a career in Human Resources, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Training and Development and/or HR systems processes.  

Summer internships will begin Monday, June 5, 2023 (ending approximetly on August 18, 2023), on a 40-hour work week schedule, with potential to extend or hire. 

Responsibilities: 
Depending on the successful candidate’s interests and abilities, and the needs of the business at the time of placement, the intern’s projects could include the following: 

  • Assist the Senior Director of Global Inclusion and Culture in global DEI initiatives, including planning and facilitating periodic DEI Council meetings with Senior HR Leaders 
  • Conduct research, create reports on program effort and effectiveness (ESG report), conceptualize community engagement ideas  
  • Research DEI topics and their correlation to the initiatives of Terex benchmarking to industry best practices and various DEI indices 
  • Analyze annual Perceptyx (Perspectives) team member engagement survey data-drawing insights and trends from open responses 
  • Assist with the development of DEI metrics to “know the score” (e.g., minorities in management, parity in retention rates, etc.) and work with HR Systems, Reporting & Analytics COE to determine reporting format and cadence  
  • Support the creation and implementation of DEI training programs 
  • Support initiatives of the Terex Affinity Groups  
  • Participate on the Women@Terex Steering Committee and assist in the planning of Women@Terex events including bi-annual webinars 
  
Required Qualifications: 
  • Minimum Junior year standing as of Fall 2023 at accredited 4-year university/college. 
  • Pursuing a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree. 
  • Track record of demonstrable accomplishments in school and at work. 
  
Skills & Competencies:    

  • Basic understanding of Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Analytical abilities. 
  • Attention to detail. 
  • Solid communication skills - both written and verbal. 
  • Well-developed organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Action oriented and strong follow-up. 
  • Positive, can-do attitude; self-starter. 

The compensation for this position is $22/hr for undergraduate interns and $24/hr for graduate or returning interns. This position is eligible for holiday pay, but is not eligible for medical benefits.
