Responsibilities of Editorial Coordinator:
 
  • Posting content to Sitecore.
  • Assist the Senior Managing Editor and Editorial Specialist in providing administrative support to the Editors of publications. This includes acting as a liaison between editors and contributors regarding headshots, and conflict-of-interest and copyright forms
  • Proofread articles and fact-check article in these publications as well as e-newsletters.
  • Draft other articles and correspondence as needed.
  • Proofread/copyedit documents and newsletters as needed.
  • Assist Editorial Specialist with design, layout, HTML coding, and distribution of e-mail newsletters
  • Maintains data and runs database reports to ensure accuracy of newsletter mailing lists.
  • Work with Communications Coordinator to help plan and schedule social media posts
  • Working with Editorial Specialist, maintain statistics on delivery and open rates for e-mail blasts and e-newsletters; track and report on trends.
  • Assist in planning and organizing meetings and conference calls.
  • Prepare agendas, attend editorial meetings, and take minutes.
  • Maintain copyright transfer files and responds to reprint requests.
  • Ensures that each issue of our newsletter is registered with the Library of Congress.
  • Fills in for receptionist occasionally.
  • Assists with other Communications Department projects as assigned.
 
Requirements for Editorial Coordinator:
  • College degree. A minimum of one year’s work experience preferred.
  • Strong writing, proofreading, editing, and organizational skills required.
  • Experience with desktop publishing and graphic design (Quark and/or InDesign, Photoshop) preferred.
  • HTML coding preferred.
  • Must have attention to detail and be able to handle multiple tasks in an active work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including professionalism and ability to work well with leadership required.
  • Requires ability to speak audibly and listen actively.
  • Requires ability to use computers, telephones, and other office equipment.
  • May require ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • May require periodic out-of-town travel.
