Senior Research Program Manager - Wake Forest University School of Medicine

The Research Program Manager is an operations leader in support of the research activity of Wake Forest University School of Medicine new Dean Dr. L. Ebony Boulware, Chief Science Officer of Atrium Health and Vice Chief Academic Officer of Advocate Health research. With the investigator and other team members, the Program Manager will direct and coordinate various aspects of the study/project directed towards planning, implementation, evaluation and dissemination. This position will be responsible for working with research faculty and staff to assure success through monitoring activities, leading improvement initiatives, addressing issues as they arise, and developing solutions that directly impact the research activity.  
Education, Experience, and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required. 
  • Five (5)+ or more years of experience required.   
  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Sciences or related fields preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in research support, project management, administration or supervisory experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the operational needs of the research team, including efficient utilization of assigned resources
  • Plan, develop and execute research operations, including arranging and assigning work to best use research project funds
  • Oversee technical programs and administrative activities of the research study
  • Lead the operational needs of the research study to ensure appropriate progress and milestones are met
  • Participate in the design, implementation, and modification of projects related to the research team and study
  • Interface with grants and financial management teams to ensure sound fiscal stewardship
  • Hire research team members and supervise the work of research staff to ensure the quality of service provided
  • Lead process improvement and efficiency efforts across the research study and team
  • Establish long-range plans and schedules within established research objectives
  • Manage projects related to the research study and team, including lab movement and set up, equipment acquisition, and working with external contractors as needed 
  • Oversee study transfer and set up, including data transfer and IRB compliance
  • Approve significant grant expenditures
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements for all studies
