Regional Coordinator, The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

This position coordinates the outreach and training of partner agencies in The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) in DC and Prince Georges and Montgomery County in Maryland. TEFAP is a program that provides nutritious government food to low-income families. The position requires an individual who is eager to build strong relationships with community organizations in TEFAP and with the state agencies that oversee the program regionally. The Coordinator will work in a team environment along with a peer TEFAP coordinator and will serve as an integral part of the MD regional team to expand the reach of CAFB's presence in the community.

Essential Functions:
TEFAP Administration- 65%
  • Conduct outreach and onboard additional partners to the TEFAP program in the DC and MD regions
  • Provide initial trainings to new USDA partners and conduct annual recertification training and relevant trainings as needed to ensure program compliance and guidelines are met.
  • Ensure that guidelines and training materials are up to date to meet state and federal requirements.
  • Work along the Service Insights (data recording and analysis system) team to onboard TEFAP partners into the database system.
  • Work with Operations and Food Resources Departments to maintain a consistent and nutritious inventory that is in line with our ability to distribute the food in a timely manner
  • Collect and analyze data, as required, from USDA.
  • Provide monthly and/ or quarterly reports to the USDA state agencies.
  • Provide data collection and analysis to assist in preparation of CAFB grants and annual reports
  • Communicate with state agencies to strengthen relationships and including but not limited to report, compliance and guidance about TEFAP program
  • Assure the timely submission of all reports to State Agencies in accordance to state contracts and work plans.
  • Streamline processes for accurate tracking, filing, report preparation, and timely report completion.
  • Collaborate in different MD region initiatives to accomplish yearly goals.

TEFAP Site Review, Data Monitoring/ Internal Audits 35%
  • Monitor sites/site coordinators to ensure program guidelines are met.
  • Maintain and update all records pertaining to TEFAP, including updating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures for the program.
  • Perform site inspections of all sites on an annual or as needed basis to ensure program guidelines are met.
  • Perform internal audit program reviews.
  • Maintain distribution site information and accurately update database and hard copy files.
  • Other MD region duties as assigned.

 Position Requirements
  • Excellent written communications skills and good public speaking skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and adhere to tight time frames
  • Ability to analyze and report data
  • Ability to manage financial budgets with supervisor oversight
  • Experience using Excel and proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • 4-year degree or Associates degree with 1-3 years professional experience
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to drive throughout service area for site visits
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations
  • Site visits may require standing and moderate walking

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with data systems
  • Proficient in Spanish or Amharic Language a plus
  • Experience leading trainings for adult audiences
  • Non-profit experience preferred
  • Ability to commute to meet MD partners

Schedule:
  • Hybrid schedule available 
  • Regular work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm; with weekends or extended hours for special events
