Licensed Speech and Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)

Speech-Language Pathology Assistants at the May Institute ensure that speech and language services are provided in a progressive and thorough manner to meet the needs of the students served in the school and residential programs. 
 
Responsibilities include:
  • Working with the Speech-Language Pathologists to: 
  • Conduct assessments 
  • Work individually with students on speech and language goals 
  • Run social groups in classrooms 
  • Manage students’ AAC systems 
  • Train direct service staff 
  • Provide ongoing support and consultation to staff members 
  • Develop formal and informal speech and language programs 
  • Collaborate on IEP goals and evaluate and report on student progress 
  • Conduct applied research

  • Access to resources for professional development trainings and speech/language program materials 

Qualifications:  
  • Massachusetts SLPA licensure required 
  • Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis strongly preferred 
  • Experience working with children and/or adults with Autism and other developmental disabilities 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
