Library Media Specialist - Intermediate Center

Applications should be submitted by Friday, February 24. Phone interviews will occur on or before Wednesday, March 1; in-person interviews will take place on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 8.  The position will remain open until filled.

What Your Day Will Look Like:
Your day will include teaching library lessons for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes and  managing the daily operations of the Library Media Center. Ensuring that library hours, space, and seating provide optimum access for all learners. Design and maintain a library website that provides 24-7 access to digital information.  You will also consult with teachers and offer professional development to staff to integrate information and technology skills into all curricular areas. Model the use of online digital content and collaborative learning to support and extend student and staff learning opportunities anytime, anywhere. Model and facilitate safe, healthy, legal, and ethical uses of digital information and technologies (digital citizenship).

In addition, this position serves as the Intermediate Center’s Building Instructional Tech Assist Coordinator and will receive an annual stipend for this great work. This includes being a first responder for tech issues in the building and cataloging and maintaining all of the chromebooks in the building.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Develops and implements engaging lessons which reflect district curriculum and which integrate age and developmentally appropriate practices for students. 
  • Supports reading and creates an environment where reading is valued for lifelong learning. Provides collaborative instruction that addresses multiple literacies such as written, audio, visual and digital. 
  • Leads and models the use of emerging resources that allow students to interact with, curate and present information. 
  • Models and promotes diversity, cultural understanding, and global awareness. 
  • Demonstrates ability to build positive, nurturing relationships with all learners.
  • Collaborates with teams of teachers to implement digital and multimedia best practices while planning, teaching, reflecting and adjusting.

Our Ideal Candidate:
  • Candidates shall possess a valid WI DPI Regular Education or Elementary Education License (MC-EA, EA-A) and Instructional Library Media Specialist 1902 or be eligible to attain required licensing.
  • Secure knowledge of inclusive classrooms and best practice for reading and writing instruction. 
  • Willingness to participate in and lead instructional improvement through a coteaching and coaching model.
  • Demonstrates ability to build positive, nurturing relationships with all learners.
  • Ability to be adaptable, collaborative, and have a solution-oriented mindsets, especially during times of change.
  • Demonstrates good communication skills, including ability to guide and supervise groups of students, maintain confidentiality, and work with students in a positive and motivational manner.  
  • Demonstrates strong technology skills and ability to teach students and staff new tools and resources.
  • Demonstrates expertise in instructional strategies, effective research based intervention strategies in conjunction with equitable Multi-Leveled Systems of Support, and expertise using data to diagnose, intervene, monitor and adjust support.
  • Demonstrates and supports a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills and abilities are a plus.
