Summer Research Intern

Waterford.org is looking for a Research Intern to support analysis of the efficacy of Waterford's education software and curriculum solutions. The primary focus of this position is to conduct research of the PreK through 6th-grade literacy, math, science, and growth mindset content.
 
Our team focuses on evaluating different computer interaction and assessment models in relation to children's cognitive abilities. As a Research Intern, you'll perform data analysis using various software programs. The research you conduct will analyze the effectiveness of our programs, educational lessons and assessments. Combining published research, user needs analyses, and partner feedback, your research will inform the development of Waterford's product content ensuring that it is effective, engaging, and relevant to early learners.
 
This is a grant funded, fulltime position that we anticipate will last through Summer 2023.
 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessment testing with young children.
  • Ensure research integrity by reviewing data for accuracy.
  • Document and communicate your analyses and results to various collaborators through reports, briefings, and presentations.
  • Conduct literature reviews and write summaries of recently published education research.
  • Develop white papers articulating methodology and study results related to Waterford's research findings and submit them for publication.
  • Support a wide variety of statistical analyses using programs such as SPSS and R.
  • Conduct research with users using a range of methods (usability testing, interviews, surveys, etc).
  • Travel including overnight stays for multiple days.
  • Continuously champion, promote, and advance diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence at Waterford.org.
  • Collaborate on and contribute to organizational DEI efforts and goals.


Essential education, experience and skills:

  • Current undergraduate, or recent graduate, in educational research, assessment, statistics, psychology, early childhood education/development, or a related field.
  • Previous research experience.
  • Knowledge of statistics and research methodology.
  • Understanding of equity concepts and how they can be evaluated through research.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage various ongoing projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Excel as well as SPSS or R.
  • Excels with minimal supervision.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including virtual and in-person presentation skills.
  • Ability to discern and communicate complex concepts and research findings.
  • Experience working with young children

Waterford.org team members are located across the United States and primarily work from home. We anticipate this temporary, full time, hourly position will pay $22.00-24.94 per hour depending on the education, experience and skill level of the individual we hire.
