Overview

Under minimal supervision, this position provides full-time quality, work direction, support and supervision for the START (Systemic, Therapeutic, Assessment, Resource, and Treatment) clinical team. Collaborates with other members of the START leadership team to monitor the quality and delivery of crisis support services using the START service model for individuals at risk for acute crisis, loss of residential placement, and/or individuals who are currently experiencing crisis. Serves as a liaison and establishes relationships and develops community linkages with and community partners and stakeholders. Coordinates trainings utilizing expertise of psychologists and psychiatrists, team leaders, and specialists within the community. Shares administrator on-call responsibilities with other START leadership.

Starting pay ranges from $95,000/yr to $110,000/yr
 

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the Associate START Director, Clinical Team Lead, START Coordinators, START Therapeutic Coaching Lead, and START Therapeutic Coaches.
  • Ensures associate responsibilities, authorities, and accountabilities are clearly defined and understood. Manages and evaluates the performance and productivity of associates.
  • Works with various management and Human Resources in the recruitment/selection process of new program associates. Oversees associates involved in the recruitment/selection process as needed.
  • Collaborates with other members of the START leadership team to monitor quality of START service delivery and assure fidelity to the START model.
  • Establishes community linkages.
  • Serves as liaison to community network partners.
  • Serves as a positive representative of the START Program with other professionals, families, and the community.
  • Coordinates trainings utilizing expertise of psychologists and psychiatrists, team leaders, and specialists within the community.
  • Maintain communication with other regional START Program Directors. Attends Bi-Monthly NCSS Program Director Practice Groups.
  • Chairs and coordinates the START Advisory Council.
  • Provides support as needed to clinical team.
  • Leads and/or attends staff meetings and daily triage meetings. Prepares and provides specialized training and instructional materials including staff development training, as assigned by Director of Consultation Services.
  • Participate in and complete the START Coordinator Certification training process. Implements all START clinical procedures and assessments to program participants as needed.
  • Enter, monitor and assure data entry for all team members in the START Information Reporting System. Use data to inform programmatic decision-making.
  • Assists in responding to requests from state agencies for data and program information.
  • Attends conferences and trainings to remain current regarding new research, current trends and development with intellectual and developmental disabilities, special education, and related fields.
  • Shares admin on-call responsibilities with other START leadership (e.g., Clinical Director, Program Director, Clinical Team Lead, Associate Director) to ensure 24/7 response to crisis situations within one hour of call telephonically and within 24 hours of call in-person.
  • May provide in-person support to the START Coordinator when necessary while responding to a participant in crisis.
  • Provides approval and feedback to START Coordinators recommendations during crisis calls.
  • Ensures START Emergency Assessments are completed by the START Coordinator within 24 hours of a crisis calls that occurred during admin on-call shift. Additionally, reviews and approves the START Emergency Assessment.
  • Leads morning triage if assigned as admin on-call the previous day.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Masters Degree in social work, psychology, counseling or human service field.
  • Preferred to have a certificate or license (e.g., BCBA, OT, LMFT, LCSW, etc.).
  • Must have and maintain current CPR certification card.
  • Must be a certified START Coordinator within 12 months of employment as team leader
Experience:
  • 7 years’ of professional experience working with individuals with developmental disabiltiies and behavioral health needs, in a multi-disciplinary team setting; and at least 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Typically, experience in managing severe behavior problems such as frequent property destruction, aggression towards others, SIB, PICA, etc.
  • Expert knowledge of scientifically-validated methodologies and approaches found to benefit individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs; familiar with current related research findigs.
  • Strong clinical, administrative, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Able to interpret and implement policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Able to consistently demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to maintain customer service orientation and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, through oral and written skills, and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups. Must relate well to participants and their families and maintain positive affect.,
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality to handl sensitive and confidential situations and documentations.
  • Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination and a TB test.
  • Ability to provide proof of required vaccinations or positive titer showing immunity. A signed declination may be acceptable for certain vaccinations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record/fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation per Easterseals of Southern California and/or program requirements.
  • Ability to travel locally; maintain a driving record in compliance with Transportation Safety Standards; maintain auto insurance and vehicle registration.
  • Must pass all drug testing required by ESSC.
