Camp Counselor

Hiring for summer of 2023 for our Summer Camp Setting, anticipated start date of May 27, 2023! Must be able to live on camp site for the duration of employment.

This position pays $400.00 per week, temporary position from June - August
 
Camp Lead Staff positions available for those individuals with previous experience

Quest’s Camp Thunderbird provides engaging recreational programs for adults with developmental disabilities in an unforgettable summer camp setting.

Camp Counselor Responsibilities:
  • Encourages guests’ engagement in camp activities through own participation
  • Maintains a resort-like environment for persons served, other team members and visitors
  • Cares for guests by assisting with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting (including incontinent care), feeding, repositioning, and basic first aid as needed
  • Facilitates guest choice in daily living and activities by providing variety and information on available choices
  • Ensures that camp safety regulations for guests and fellow staff members are followed
  • Ensures that daily activity schedule is followed
  • Stays on-site for scheduled night duty periods during camp season to ensure availability to meet guests needs during their stay at camp
  • Completes cabin documentation (including initial screening forms, clothing forms, guest evaluations, memory book, and other) during each camp session
  • Recognizes guest achievement through camp guest recognition programs and determines awards appropriately
  • Completes housekeeping duties on a daily basis to ensure a clean and safe environment, and keeps all hazardous chemicals locked and away from guests
  • Participates actively in all required trainings
  • Follows all Quest policies and procedures as outlined in the Camp Thunderbird Staff Manual
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Camp Counselor Education/Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in Special Education, Recreation Services, Psychology, or similar field preferred
  • Previous experience working with individuals of varying abilities (especially developmental disabilities) preferred
