Community Care Aide- Joseph's House

The LVC member will serve as a Community Care Aide. Integrating into the many branches of our work, the Member will come to understand the wide range of activities that are required to compassionately support residents and our extended family of former residents. The Member will provide residents with companionship, which could mean sharing a meal together, planning individual and group activities, sitting vigil with a person who is coming to the end of their life, or simply taking the time to be in conversation with residents about their lives and your own.
The Member will help to enhance residents’ (and former residents’) quality of life by driving and accompanying them to appointments, picking up medications, assisting with grocery shopping and cooking house meals, and performing ongoing housekeeping duties. To further support residents, WAP Members will support the Joseph’s House social worker with a variety of case management tasks: for example, assisting individuals who have regained their health to obtain food stamps, get photo identification, connect to mental health agencies, and find housing. The Member will also assist the nursing staff with residents’ personal care, including direct care duties such as administering medications, bathing, and repositioning bedbound residents.
