Deputy Director, Workforce Development Programs

Position Summary
The Deputy Director, Workforce Development Programs of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation reports to the Director of Digital Training & Learning Design and provides leadership and management for initiatives focusing on workforce development and economic well-being of the LGBTQ+ community. This position is responsible for high-level strategy and vision as well as day-to-day management and implementation of program initiatives, including the oversight of the pilot of the program’s new financial health, job readiness and wellness training, “Next Level.” The position includes outreach and substantial direct consultation with consultants, advisory groups and community based organizations.
 
This position is a temporary, full-time position ending approximately March 31, 2024. Possible extension depending on funding.

A successful candidate is not required to be in the Washington, DC area as this position is eligible for a fully remote status. 
 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the curriculum development and pilot delivery of “Next Level,” the HRC Foundation’s new 10-week course for LGBTQ+ young adults (age 18-30) focusing on financial health, job readiness and wellness, including documenting best practices to support program expansion beyond pilot.
  • In collaboration with Director and internal stakeholders, assist in the project management of an LGBTQ+ community financial health survey and the launch of a new financial health online education platform in collaboration with LifeCents.
  • Partner with Director in management of program Advisory Council and Community Council including developing content for and managing meetings and overseeing regular communications.
  • Partner with Director in management of program consultants, including trainers, evaluator and instructional designer.
  • In collaboration with the Director and internal stakeholders,serve as liaison for engaging national and local corporate partners on workforce development and pipelines to employment for LGBTQ+ community.
  • Help to identify and implement strategies and programming to strengthen the racial equity impact of Next Level and other job readiness and financial health programs
  • Partner with Director and internal stakeholders on grant management, including tracking timeline and deliverables, data collection and evaluation, and communicating with funders.
  • Prepare and deliver written and oral presentations about Next Level and topics relevant to LGBTQ+ financial health and job readiness, representing the program internally and externally, as needed
  • Develop and maintain new public education resources on financial health, job readiness and wellness.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and oversee program online resources.
  • Partner with the Director as a spokesperson on LGBTQ+ workforce development and financial health issues.
  • Proven ability to delegate tasks by providing needed resources, guidance, and training.
  • Carry out other duties related to workforce development programs, the HRC Foundation, and HRC as assigned.
 
Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), with at least six to eight years of relevant work experience.
  • At least two years of direct management experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrable success managing complex, mission-driven projects required, experience managing large grants preferred.
  • Skilled in program development, implementation, analysis, and evaluation.
  • Ability to communicate in clear and compelling ways both written and verbally and ability to organize and share information effectively — whether writing an internal email or delivering a presentation.
  • Demonstrated success in outreach and related relationship-building.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Understanding of the importance of intersectionality and a demonstrated commitment to diversity.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Works well independently, as well as on a team.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of work time (including overnight stays).
  • Strong commitment to and interest in the rapidly changing LGBTQ+ equality movement and workforce development and financial health for LGBTQ+ people of color, transgender and non-binary people, women, older adults, and others in the community who face significant marginalization.
  • Knowledge and understanding of workplace and economic policies impacting LGBTQ+ community required.
