Real Pay for Real Jobs EPIC Project Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (Capitol District) - #R1205

DARS a 2022 ATD Best Winner in Talent Development is seeking a Real Pay for Real Jobs (RPRJ) EPIC Project Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (Capitol District) to provide services and support for the Virginia RPRJ EPIC Project grant to enhance accessibility and to expand quality supports and services to Individuals transitioning out of or at risk of entering subminimum wage employment to Competitive Integrated Employment (SWTCIE). This position serves in a district wide coordination capacity as a specialized VR Counselor for VR services to eligible RPRJ EPIC participants. The purpose of this position is to meet RPRJ EPIC grant goals and organizational objectives of RPRJ partner organizations. This position will coordinate and implement integrated resource teams for each RPRJ EPIC participant.

This position will also act as a subject matter expert for other VR counselors in the district serving individuals transitioning out of or at risk of entering subminimum wage employment.

Individuals (students and adults) served will have a special focus on RPRJ EPIC VR Eligible individuals that require multiple wraparound supports to obtain and maintain their competitive integrated employment. In addition, if DARS is under an OOS they will work with RPRJ participants in OOS. Will also assist in tracking RPRJ EPIC participants, certifications, employment and other project reporting data as needed.

This is a restricted position funded through September 30, 2027.

Requirements:
A Master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling, public administration, special education or related field. Transcripts must accompany the application and they MUST display the date that the degree was awarded. Applicants who are within a semester of completion of a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a closely related field will be considered if the application is accompanied by a transcript that verifies the anticipated graduation date.

Experience in Vocational Rehabilitation, especially with employment programs for people with significant disabilities; and with High School Transition employment programs, Supported Employment services and Customized Employment Services.

Considerable knowledge of the social, economic, medical, vocational, and emotional issues impacting persons with disabilities especially those who are employed in or are at risk for entering subminimum wage employment.

Knowledge of interviewing, evaluation, and counseling techniques including methods and tools for career counseling and exploration; and of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance requirements and the principles and practices of vocational service delivery to persons with disabilities and assistive technology needs for a variety of programmatic and environmental partners.

Skilled in Windows based computer usage and the ability to learn proprietary software for case management/case documentation purposes.

Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, co-workers, and the professional community; and to organize and manage multiple and sometimes unrelated responsibilities in a timely manner; to prioritize duties and exercise responsible judgment with minimal supervision.

Prefer - Certification as a Rehabilitation Provider or Certified Rehabilitation Counselor.
