Human Resources Business Partner

HR Business Partner – Independence VA (On-site) As an HR Business Partner, you will utilize your human resources expertise, leadership, and business acumen to assist site management in achieving business objectives. This role provides HR oversight for an additional sawmill in Elkin, NC. What You Will Do
• Contribute to the business strategy by helping business leaders to identify, prioritize, and build organizational capabilities, behaviors, structures, and processes
• Support managers in forecasting and planning their talent pipeline requirements in line with the function/business strategy.
• Ensure process discipline for all HR related activities.
• As a skilled coach, partner with leaders, teams, and individuals you will help them continuously improve their effectiveness, achieve business, and career goals.
• Lead strategies to foster an environment of belonging and engagement which balances the needs of the business and employees.
• Use data and problem-solving methodologies to continuously improve HR processes.
• Partner with the business and the Division HR Director to design and execute your strategy for how we recruit, onboard, develop, engage, and retain our employees.
• Be a champion for Woodgrain’s culture and values where employees and leaders are honest and believe in doing the right thing every time, place safety above all, lead best by serving and understanding others, and treat others as you would like to be treated.
• Manage benefits administration and effectively respond to any benefits related concerns.
• Ensure proper administration of annual performance reviews, merit increases and incentive payouts to create a culture of empowerment and accountability.
• Provide guidance on Return-to-Work (RTW) cases. Work with managers to resolve cases and reduce duration of time away from work. What You Will Need to Succeed
• 4-year college degree in Human Resources or related field and 3-4 years HR experience OR Master’s degree in Human Resources or related field and 1-2 years HR experience OR Equivalent combination of education and experience • Expertise in the following areas: talent acquisition, capability development, performance management, coaching, compensation, employee engagement, employee relations, change management, and succession planning • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to analyze data, understand trends, develop recommendations • Effectively manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, communication, and business partnership skills • Proficient in Microsoft Office, collaboration technologies (e.g., MS Teams), and emerging HR technologies • Ability to motivate and positively influence others, including skills at mentoring, coaching, and training • Ability to travel up to 10% What You’ll Get from Us • Health coverage • Dental coverage • Vision coverage • A commitment to your future with a 401K plan, offering a 3% company match • Tuition Reimbursement • Generous PTO • Annual performance-based incentive bonus The HR Business Partner reports to the division HR Director and oversees the site HR Safety Coordinator.
