Buyer - Electronic Components

Luminator is seeking to fill our FULL-TIME Buyer - Electronic Components role to join our growing and dynamic Material Control team where you will be an integral part of the team by providing valuable input as we work toward assessing and implementing goals and mission of the department and Luminator. This is an opportunity to be part of something new and exciting within Material Control.
Summary:   
The Buyer - Electronic Components is responsible for procurement of electronic sub-components/raw materials required to support customer service goals, minimize the total landed cost of material and optimize company’s cash flow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for development of Electronic Components sourcing strategies with supply chain leadership, understand technical specifications and the requirements of technical data packages used for Electronics Manufacturing.
  • Assist in development of Master Service Agreements to ensure that they conform with program contract terms, conditions, and other provisions including applicable federal regulations and business team objectives prior to signature/acceptance.
  • Proactively identifies and takes appropriate corrective actions to alleviate component shortages for downstream suppliers. Expedites materials as required and provides accurate material status information to suppliers, other departments and site management.
  • Effectively communicates forecasted requirements to external suppliers.
  • Prepares and presents recommendations of improvement opportunities and alternative courses of action to purchasing leaders. Supports purchasing management in activities such as price benchmarking, vendor management, process analysis, market and industry research, and model building.
  • Consistently applies purchasing policies, procedures and processes. Manages loading and retrieving of legal and compliance documents into applicable storage systems.
  • Lead negotiations and minimizing the purchase price variance (PPV). Ensure on time deliveries by monitoring the materials lead time, capacity status, and market conditions of purchased components.
  • Works to eliminate excess and obsolete parts and rationalize similar parts.
  • Participates in Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events that will eliminate waste and result in significant benefits (Growth, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) throughout the Supply Chain.

  • Ability and desire to work hands on and with details without losing track of the overall objectives.
  • Strong knowledge and ability to interpret electrical schematics for product sourcing
  • Skilled in Product Life Cycle Management with proficiency in managing New Product Supply Chain setup and Product Obsolescence
  • Ability to interface well with Engineering, Product Management, Quality Assurance and Production teams.
  • Highly organized and able to function successfully in a fast-paced product development environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaboratively work with key individuals at all levels of the organization to implement changes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact-based decisions. 
  • Prior knowledge of supplier performance management practices and supplier scorecard.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft office suite software.
Education/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of related experience in Electronics components sourcing.
  • Must have knowledge/proven background in the Electronic Component Distribution Industry.
  • Relationships with Electronics Distributors and Manufacturers that can be leveraged to support problem escalations and program development are highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the Electronics Market, Component types and how they are manufactured is desirable.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and ability to develop win-win solutions.
  • Direct experience implementing lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • BS/BA preferably in Supply Chain Management, Business or Engineering is highly desirable.
  • CPIM, CSCP, Lean Manufacturing and Six-Sigma Green Belt certifications are highly desirable.
