Summer Camp Program Specialist

Are you looking for a fun and rewarding summer job? Do you love camping and the outdoors as much as we do? Camp Easterseals, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains in New Castle, Virginia, USA is seeking dynamic, adventure minded Program Staff to join our team for the Summer of 2023. The Program Staff are responsible for planning and implementing activities for program participants as well as camp-wide events.

YOU are a good match for this position if you….
  • Are at least 18 or older with a high school diploma or GED
  • Have good organizational and time management skills
  • Can creatively adapt activities for individuals with varying physical and developmental needs; activities such as arts and crafts, nature exploration, sports activities, and games
  • Are able to follow directions, think critically and perform essential functions
  • Possess effective communication and active listening skills including the ability to understand and speak English
  • Have a great attitude, sense of humor, and enjoy spending time in the outdoors!

What you will do:
  • Plan, adapt, and implement fun program activities within the abilities of the participants allowing everyone to participate with the opportunity for success; rate activities for future use
  • Provide supervision of the program area during activities and ensure all participants and staff are following safety protocols
  • Maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Clean and maintain program area
  • Complete an inventory of program area at beginning and end of camp
  • Assist with cabin and camp clean-ups and with rest time and night duties, as assigned
  • Attend all program and staff meetings
  • Have a wonderful time at camp!
