Sports Program Manager

It’s the time of year where your responsibilities are starting to pile up and life is feeling repetitive. Maybe it's cold outside. Maybe you're tired of staring at your computer screen. Have you considered spending your summer outside? Having an opportunity to live the simple life away from technology? Gain real-world, hands-on management skills? Pour into young girls and help grow young staff at a summer camp in Maine?

I'm asking you to consider camp life. Not only is living in community with likeminded people from all over the world just fun, but I know the pressures of the world are tremendous and you’re up against a lot. This summer you could have an opportunity (maybe for the first time in a long time) to not worry about what you're wearing, how you look, or how much time you spend on social media. You could live in a community of people, staff and campers, who care deeply about you and are rooting for your success. You will be challenged and you will work hard. You will teach young girls how to dribble a ball, how to be a friend, how to resolve conflict. You'll be asked to weed tennis courts, moved canoes, dust corners, and set tables. You'll laugh, try something new, make a friend, and you'll hopefully find a new appreciation for nature. You'll encourage a group of staff to grow in their leadership skills, teaching skills, and sports skills. Truly, you have the opportunity to make a difference.

Camp Tapawingo is a traditional, all-girls summer camp in Sweden, Maine. Our 200 acres of woods, fields and sandy beaches overlook Mt. Washington and the White Mountains in the Lakes Region of Maine. Each summer, over 100 staff members come from all over the world to teach new skills, grow campers, and make lifelong friends. As a Department Head, you will live in your own room in our Main Lodge and oversee 4-10 staff members in a Department Area (Landsports). You'll train and schedule college-aged staff, give formal bi-weekly feedback on staff performance, and help develop and improve the program area throughout the summer.
