Scheduling and Summer Camp Specialist

The NC Museum of Natural Science is seeking an individual who is passionate about connecting families to nature to join our team! This position is responsible for supporting both the Summer Camp and program scheduling needs of the Education Section. This position reports to Head of Scheduling and Manager of Summer Camp. This is a 40 hours/with benefits position with The Friends of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.

Pay:
$16.00 per hour with approved overtime pay during the summer.

Work Schedule:
This position typically works 8am-5pm, with the flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as needed. Applicant will be able to telework on occasional Mondays. This is a shared position in which duties may fluctuate between program scheduling for the Education Section and Summer Camp support. This position must be available for all summer camp sessions, which typically occur June through mid-August.

Locations:
North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences and satellite camp sites.

Responsibilities:
·       Interact professionally with Museum guests, teachers, parents, and program participants via phone, email, and in-person.
·       Actively lead and assist camp activities in an indoor or outdoor camp setting and other various programs.
·       Enter and track information into databases, create invoices, and process payments. Maintain webpages and registration systems.
·       Oversee registrations for various programs and respond to program inquiries and general field trip and camp questions.
·       Assist in the preparation and administration of day camps including planning with an universal design focus, scheduling, marketing, staff orientation, purchasing, organizing materials, and providing staff support.
·       Complete other duties as assigned and provide occasional support for other educational programs or events

Necessary Skills and Abilities:
·       Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
·       Excellent customer service and communication skills.
·       Demonstrated ability working in a formal or informal education setting, leading small or large group activities.
·       Ability to use the principles of Universal Design to implement program adaptions that make camp activities and experiences accessible for all campers.
·       Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently with minimal guidance from supervisor.
·       Ability to lift 40 lbs., walk long distances, work in various weather conditions, and traverse uneven terrain.
·       Ability to submit to a criminal background check.
·       Ability to complete First Aid and CPR with AED training within the first year of employment.
·       Comply with all The Friends of the Museum and state of North Carolina policies.

Minimum Education and Experience:
College degree and one year of experience as related to knowledge, skills, and abilities in area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
