Bass Pro Shops Internship Program offers a 10-week immersive work program giving students a holistic overview of the business focusing on career and competency development while gaining valuable experience with a multifaceted company.

Here in Springfield, MO nestled among the natural beauty of the Missouri Ozarks, you’ll find Bass Pro Shops headquarters. We call it Base Camp. From here, it’s a short hike to pristine fishing holes, prime hunting grounds, wooded hills for camping, clear streams for canoeing, and much more. Why here instead of the big city? Working alongside talented individuals, you will be jumping in to assist with projects, research and work experience that directly impacts our business. As a key-player on the team, you will have professional development and networking opportunities with leadership in the organization to build your professional brand.

We can’t forget about the fieldtrips! You will have the opportunity to take team trips to learn about the many areas of our business. We will visit our Granddaddy retail store, Big Cedar Lodge and our Boat Manufacturing Plants offering a behind-the-scenes overview of the organization to get an immersive experience about our passion for the outdoors and conservation.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Communications Intern will join the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s communications team to help optimize the effectiveness of local press events and local community giving.

As North America’s premier outdoor and conservation company, we host hundreds of events each year and donate millions of dollars to support key conservation causes in our local communities. The Communications Intern will help the team concept, coordinate and create new media resource materials for retail team members across North America.

This intern will also support critical communication department functions including media list management, media monitoring and internal communications for the Bass Pro Shops family of brands.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Concept, coordinate and create new field resource materials including training and templates for our retail team members across North America (40%)
  • Conduct media monitoring to keep key business partners informed of the company’s mentions in national and local news (35%)
  • Assist with updating local media outreach databases to ensure optimal exposure for media releases and communications (15%)
  • Assist with internal communications campaigns and messaging (10%)

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Education Required: Completion of Junior year of college through graduating year.
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • Preferred Major: Public Relations, Communications, or Related
  • Available for full commitment of 10-week program (40 hours/week)
  • Currently enrolled in accredited college or university in pursuit of bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Eligible to work in the US
  • Ability to relocate to work location for the duration of the program

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
  • You are a strong communicator with excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • You thrive at thoughtfully building and implementing new systems and frameworks

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Travel required varies based on internship, minimal.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
  • Performs tasks and duties under direct supervision, using well-defined policies and procedures. Work is reviewed by supervisor. Limited opportunity exists for exercising independent judgment and decision making.
