Sales Manager- (Group/Events)

Overview/Job Summary -
Solicit and service group sales and event/catering accounts to enable the hotel to meet and/or exceed revenue goals in rooms, banquets and outlet buyouts.
Responsibilities -
  • Solicit new and develop existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
  • Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance.
  • Participate in scheduled sales meetings, pre-event meetings, training and other sales strategy related meetings as required.
  • Develop & maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers.
  • Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events.
  • Assist with projects and reports.
  • Create and implement sales action plans to successfully achieve and exceed goals
  • Extensive knowledge of sales skills and food and beverage.
  • Extensive knowledge of the key market segments and how to influence production.
  • Participate as team player with other key Departments.
  • Provide constructive feedback to all departments and to hotel sales and marketing staff.
  • 45% Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
  • 30% Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance in addition to Menus, Floor Plans, BEOs, IEO and Events Calendar.
  • 10% Participate in forecasting, daily business review meeting, pre-convention meetings, training and other food and beverage or sales-related meetings as required.
  • 10% Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to customers.
  • 5% Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers.
  • Contribute to the annual marketing plans and budget process.  Review goals and action plan on a scheduled basis.   
  • Maintain expenses within the budgeted guidelines.
  • Maintain a respectful working relationship with on-property colleagues and facilitate flow of communication.
  • Develop new marketing tools/collateral for the group and event market segment. Coordinate and monitor scheduled direct mail efforts.
  • Maintain knowledge of all Rosewood Hotels & Resorts to facilitate cross selling. 
  • Prepare and submit timely monthly reports to Area Director of Sales. Recognize and include communication of market trends and competitive intelligence.
  • Attend sales meetings, F&B meetings and leadership training sessions as required.
  • Suggest, confirm and finalize menus
  • Create Menus, Floor Plans, BEOs, IEO and Events Calendar
  • Monitor services provided by banquet staff
  • Coordinate activities of events/catering department with other departments to ensure excellent service to guests
  • Additional duties as necessary will be assigned

Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years hotel sales experience – luxury brand preferred
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent degree in Hotel Management and progressive work-related experience.
General Skills: Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy. Prioritize, organize and follow-up on all actions. Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment. Understand guest service needs. Work with minimal supervision. Maintain confidentiality of guest and client information and pertinent hotel data. Exceptional interpersonal skills - able to represent the property in the community. Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments. Ability to meet deadlines. Process an advanced business acumen.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, OPERA and SynXis systems experience is preferred. Must b able to travel on Business Trips as needed. Must possess basic computational ability. Must possess computer skills. Extensive knowledge of Food and Beverage in addition to sales skills. Ability to analyze data and establish appropriate action plans. Desire to participate as part of team.
Language: Required to speak, read and write English with fluency in other languages preferred.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting a minimum of 35 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.
Schedule: Flexible availability is required for this position to include days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
