Summer 2023 Intern - Business Development (Oklahoma Office)

As an ALSAC intern, you will learn from experts who have helped us become one of America’s top healthcare charities while supporting the life-saving mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.   
 
Our summer program offers a 10 week fully immersed paid virtual experience. You will be assigned a day-to-day manager in your industry and our program manager will lead you with networking and professional development events. 
 
ALSAC Summer Intern Innovation Project: ALSAC was named No. 1 on Fast Company’s 2020 list of Best Workplaces for Innovators. Throughout the internship, you will have a chance to connect with innovators from across ALSAC and use Design Thinking to solve for some of our most critical areas of opportunity. Interns will work in teams, be creative, and participate in weekly sessions preparing them to present their solutions to ALSAC’s CEO and members of our Executive Leadership Team. 

  • Start Date: June 5, 2023 
  • End Date: August 12, 2023 
  • Hours: 40 hours a week (Monday-Friday) 
  • Pay Rate: Based on work location 
  • Work Location: Territory Office in Oklahoma City, OK

Specific Internship Description and Preferred Skills
Work with the Oklahoma development team to provide meaningful and positive St. Jude experiences across the state, focusing on donor-centric fundraising events and opportunities.  
  
This internship is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience of ALSAC’s work and of its fundraising streams. It will be of particular interest to someone wanting to gain knowledge of and experience supporting fundraising in all streams.   
  
As an intern, you will provide general support to the team, both in the office and at events, including for private donor and public challenge events. You will work towards setting and achieving fundraising targets with the Advisor – Regional Development.   
  
Projects inlcude: 
  • St. Jude Walk/Run team retention, new team cultivation, corporate team recruitment and support at/during committee meetings  
  • Expanding our social media reach through content creation and management
  • Help with the planning and execution of fundraising events   
  • In person event support for the various events in OKC and Tulsa – these could include but are not exclusive (Walk/Run Tulsa and OKC, Dream Home Tulsa and OKC, St. Jude Collegiate Events, DGG)  
  • Identify prospective individuals, foundation, and corporate donors Develop strategies to cultivate those relationships
  • Cold calling to secure gifts, raffle prizes and other sponsorship
  • Attend and take minutes at committee meetings
  • Attend and contribute to biweekly meetings with the team  
  
Qualifications:
  • Comfortable in reaching out to organizations and donors, via email, phone, and in-person.   
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when needed.  

Majors preferred: Nonprofit Management, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, Communications, Sales/Advertising  
Skills preferred: Fundraising, corporate solicitation, experience with social media platforms, written communication, time management, project management, experience with Canva or Adobe
