Bass Pro Shops Internship Program offers a 10-week immersive work program giving students a holistic overview of the business focusing on career and competency development while gaining valuable experience with a multifaceted company.

Here in Springfield, MO nestled among the natural beauty of the Missouri Ozarks, you’ll find Bass Pro Shops headquarters. We call it Base Camp. The White River Marine Group has its headquarters at Base Camp in Springfield, MO alongside Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, and Big Cedar Lodge. In fact, our company is the world’s largest builder of fishing and recreational boats by volume. Our diverse product lines meet the needs of everyone from farm pond fishermen to offshore saltwater anglers.

We can’t forget about the fieldtrips! You will have the opportunity to take team trips to learn about the many areas of our business. We will visit our Granddaddy retail store, Big Cedar Lodge and our Boat Manufacturing Plants offering a behind-the-scenes overview of the organization to get an immersive experience about our passion for the outdoors and conservation.

POSITION SUMMARY:
  • The CI/Quality Intern is responsible for supporting the leadership team in Kaizen Activity and Quality System Development.
  • Assessing processes for opportunities to drive improvements in efficiencies, consistency, and profitability
  • Analyzing process and product data to better understand drivers of process variation and improve customer satisfaction
  • This role will be conducting Time Observations, Developing Standard Work with Frontline Co-Workers, participating in 5S, Value Stream, A3 Problem Solving, Quality Standard Activities.
  • Support CI/Quality Leadership in removing non-value-added activities out of processes and creating standards in operations to create a stabilized environment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Participate as a multidisciplinary production support team member
  • Assist CI/Quality Leadership and other team members with day-to-day continuous improvement activities, including MDI & Day by hour boards, 5S, Kaizen Activities, A3 Problem Solving, Quality System Support, etc.
  • Assist team in identifying process improvements
  • Provide technical support assistance for CI/Quality issues as required
  • Interface with internal organizations such as manufacturing, purchasing, sourcing, engineering, customer service, and human resources.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Education Required: Completion of Junior year of college through graduating year.
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • Preferred Major: Industrial Engineer, Psychology, Industrial & Organization Psychology, Mechanical Engineering, Business
  • Available for full commitment of 10-week program (40 hours/week)
  • Currently enrolled in accredited college or university in pursuit of bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Eligible to work in the US
  • Ability to relocate to work location for the duration of the program

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
  • Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Project, Domo, Medallia, etc.
  • Presentation Skills to groups, people skills – able to interact with co-workers at all levels of the organization, teamwork, and collaboration – able to lead change with teams

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Travel required varies based on internship. Day travel to manufacturing locations in Missouri and Arkansas will be frequent from Base Camp in Springfield, MO.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
  • Performs tasks and duties under direct supervision, using well-defined policies and procedures. Work is reviewed by supervisor. Limited opportunity exists for exercising independent judgment and decision making.
