Job Overview
The eMobility Product Strategy team at Daimler Truck North America is looking for a dedicated, sustainability-focused individual with a strategic eye and strong interest in CO2 reduction assessments. Having a comprehensive vision for how the transition to Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) relates to company CO2 reduction and sustainability initiatives is integral for this role. On a daily basis, you'll be primarily responsible for assessing the CO2 reduction potential of current and future ZEV offerings, supporting internal sustainability goal setting and reporting of goal achievement to executive management.
Essential for success in this position is proactive collaboration with global and local cross-functional areas and gaining expertise on the production process of ZEVs within DTNA. Creativity and structural thinking skills are necessary to setup and implement new process for CO2 assessment and goal definition. You should stay well informed on the state-of the art in the electric truck technology as well as other parts of the supporting ecosystem, incl. regulatory and political influences. Passion and entrepreneurial thinking combined with a positive “can-do” attitude are values that shape the culture within the eMobility department.
 
Responsibilities:
CO2 Reduction and Sustainability:
·       Gain expertise on CO2 emission assessment methods for product over the entire lifecycle by utilizing internal and external resources e.g. experts, consultants, documentation, and other. Build a global network to understand state-of-the-art processes for CO2 lifecycle assessments and analysis in automotive sector.
·       Analyze competitive approaches to CO2 emission reduction and sustainability initiatives to maintain DTNA’s market leadership position. Compare competitor sustainability goals to internal targets and facilitate gap assessment to show opportunities for DTNA in this field.
·       Lead the implementation of a pilot program and process for CO2 lifecycle assessment within DTNA focused on a ZEV product offering. Evaluate pilot program and define improvement potential for a series process to assess DTNA’s entire ZEV portfolio.
·       Align series process for CO2 Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) within DTNA and the global Daimler Truck organization and generate buy-in from contributing and effected stakeholders. Implement the optimized and aligned series process for CO2 lifecycle assessments within the DTNA organization.
·       Support the development of long-term CO2 emission forecasts methods and generate reports to executive management. Collaborate closely with compliance and legal groups to ensure DTNA’s compliance with regulatory requirements and influence rule-making organizations e.g. EPA.
·       Lead the derivation of DTNA’s CO2 emission goals in the future and align feasible goals with effected stakeholders on local and global level.
·       Support Product Strategy Manager across all product lines and aspects related to sustainability and CO2 goal setting & sustainability strategy (data, trends, needs, competition, environment, etc.)
Implementation of Product Updates / New Products:
·       Support implementation of new CO2 & sustainability related product requests into project management process as PAR/ PARlite. This includes, leading cross function teams at DTNA to final project approval and supporting DTNA projects as the Sales & Marketing sub project lead until project closure.
·       Assist in developing Product Committee and Gate Review materials for Executive Committee review. Includes: product/market need summary, business case outline (price, cost and volume), customer preferences, technical concept, long and short term product trends, competitor analysis/justification
Support and Network:
·       Interface with all departments (engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, marketing, sales, etc.) to insure that assigned initiatives and project are aligned and receive required support. Insure marketing stays informed on sustainability and CO2 reduction initiatives to allow beneficial external communication to customers and the public.
·       Organize, lead and document cross-functional collaboration in from of meetings, workshops and reporting (as described above)
 
Leadership:
·       Lead DTNA’s CO2 Lifecycle Assessment and Product Sustainability initiatives, goal alignment and CO2 flight path generation.
·       Educate other team members and co-workers as expert in CO2 reduction and sustainability matters.
·       Lead and mentor interns.

Basic Required Skills & Experience:
·       Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university/college with 1 year of relevant experience required
·       OR an Associate’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience required
·       OR 6 years of related experience required
·       Strong communication skills – interpersonal, presentation, and written
·       Technical understanding of product documentation structures and methods (Bill of materials, assembly instructions, product option descriptions, etc.)
·       Capability to combine technical solutions & concepts with economical evaluations and impact assessments
·       High-level understanding of zero emission and combustion engine trucks
·       Knowledge and understanding of global and national sustainability initiatives e.g. Paris Agreement
Required Degree Focus:
·       Technical OR Business OR Innovation/ Sustainability

Preferred Skills & Experience:
·       Basic technical understanding of vehicle, drivetrain, assembly and production processes
·       Experience working with various Sales & Marketing departments (Product Marketing, RCO team, and Sales)
·       Experience working and leading cross-functional teams to execute complex programs
·       Willingness to travel (~20%)
·       Experience working with Trucks/ electric vehicles
·       Experience working with various DTNA databases & tools (Order Explorer, Polk, IBT, SpecPro, IMS)
·       Experience in compiling, conducting, analyzing and maintaining complex market & product information and intelligence
·       Language skills: German (for global collaboration)

·       @hybrid: Number of days at home and at the office will be determined through an ongoing conversation with your Manager. DTNA will ensure that your WFH set-up meets wi-fi / data minimum requirements and sets you up for success. Travel to the office is not reimbursed and employee must live close enough to attend regular in-person collaborative meeting with at least 24-hour notice.
