Accelerated Banker Associate (New Grad - Columbus, GA)

Job Summary:
Participates in a focused enterprise community banking training program designed to prepare the Associate for a successful career as a future Synovus Banker. Program training will be in Columbus, GA for the first twelve months. The training period will consist of classroom/field training, rotations throughout the bank, and time spent with our leaders. Program focuses on building business development skills, management skills, and foundational credit analysis skills and then applying it in a work environment. Participants will be fully immersed with their team and will be contributing to the workload. Program and training will support Synovus' Community and Consumer Banking lines of business.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Successfully completes specialized and developmental training courses for Community line of business that targets consumer and small business clients as well as companies with middle market revenues. The training program includes: leadership, sales, product knowledge, systems and process training; consumer and small business credit skill development; participation in rotations through the Retail Lending Center and the Branch Network; spreading financials; projection modeling; profitability, risk rating and valuation analysis; credit servicing and loan approval memo writing; and participation in case studies and rotations through the Community Lending Center, and Dual Risk Rating. Under supervision, applies these skills in the work environment to engage and consult with clients to identify, understand, and prioritize financial needs; develop new business; strengthen existing client relationships; adhere to branch operations standards by participating in and leading daily kick-off and huddle activities, weekly sales meetings, and sales and training activities; demonstrate mastery of topics by preparing annual company reviews, quarterly reviews, and underwriting memos focused on identifying risks to repayment and ability to service debt.
  • Participates in class and web-based training courses focused on analyzing company's financial, operational, management and industry risks and ability to service debt.
  • Successfully completes specialized training covering sales and business development skills.
  • Develops client service skills, including knowledge of products and services used to develop relationships helping clients succeed.
  • Successfully completes specialized training covering leadership, professional development, and other business topics. Attends classes and participates in all exercises covering these topics.
  • Successfully completes a variety of developmental assignments and special projects.
  • Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree earned within the past three years.
  • 3.0 GPA minimum

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to accurately synthesize information; prepare data; and tell the story behind the data in a visually appealing way
  • Strong communication skills - verbal and written
  • Six credit hours of college level Accounting
  • Internship or related work experience in the financial services industry
