2023 Graduate - Engineer/Scientist - Communication Systems

Our team is committed to performing networking systems engineering research, design, analysis, experimentation, and prototyping of wired, wireless, virtual, and space-based networks! As a member of our team, you may be:
  • Researching solutions for secure communications in support of national security, or civilian and military healthcare.
  • Designing, developing, and testing software as part of user interfaces, network protocols, evaluation tools and more. 
  • Developing wired and wireless Internet Protocol (IP) network technology, designs, and architectures.
  • Evaluating operational networks through experimentation, analysis, laboratory testing, and field testing activities, post-processing data, and presenting the findings to sponsors.

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
  • Have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science. Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or other related technical degree
  • Have experience writing software in Python, MATLAB or other programming language.
  • Can work effectively both independently and in teams and possess strong interpersonal, oral, and written commmunication skills.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To ensure the safety and well-being of the community, APL has established a policy requiring that all staff be vaccinated against COVID-19. All staff members must provide proof of full vaccination or have an approved medical or religious accommodation by their start date.
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and are ultimately able to obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
 
You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...
  • Have experience with full stack development and/or developing software in a Linux environment following current best practices in several of the following languages: C, C++, Python, Java, JavaScript, MATLAB.
  • Have exposure to the TCP/IP stack, 4G/5G cellular communication technologies, Cyber Security or Network Security 
  • Have familiarity with network virtualization, evaluation, or analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark) or have used laboratory test equipment such as RF spectrum analyzers and signal generators. 
  • Hold an active US Security clearance.
