Intern, Large Molecule Bioanalytics

Neurodegenerative diseases are one of the largest medical challenges of our time. Denali Therapeutics is a biotechnology company dedicated to developing breakthrough therapies for neurodegenerative diseases through our deep commitment to degeneration biology and principles of translational medicine. Denali is founded on the collaboration of leading scientists, industry experts, and investors who share the vision that scientific discovery energetically applied to translational medicine is the key to delivering effective therapies to patients.

The Opportunity
Denali is seeking to hire a highly motivated summer intern who is interested in bioanalysis supporting drug development in the department of Translational Pharmacology and Bioanalysis (TP&B). As a member of Bioanalytical Sciences Group, the candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative ligand binding assays for PK and immunogenicity (ADA) assessments of novel biotherapeutic candidates. The goals of this internship project include but are not limited to the evaluation and development of PK and ADA bioanalytical assays in rabbit biological matrices (such as serum/plasma, tissues, and CSF), Meso Scale Discovery (MSD) platform-based drug specific IgE assays, and generic MSD-based ADA assays; and implementation of the Gyrolab platform assays to conduct PK sample bioanalysis in support of exploratory PK/PD studies.

The position provides the opportunity to collaborate with scientists from different functions, including Discovery Biology, Development Sciences, and Translational Biomarkers, and allows gaining further knowledge of drug development. The intern will be co-supervised by scientists in Bioanalytical Group.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and develop bioanalytical ligand binding assays in various biological matrices.
  • Execute bioanalytical assays to support PK and immunogenicity assessments.
  • Use available data acquisition analysis tools (such as GraphPad Prism, MSD Discovery Workbench, and Watson LIMS) to acquire and analyze bioanalytical data
  • Present the results at cross-functional and departmental meetings at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Document and archive contributions including assay development work, assay run analyses, data analyses and summary presentations.

Requirements
  • BS or MS candidate in immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, pharmacology, physiology, or other biological sciences/biomedical related discipline.
  • Experience with relevant molecular techniques (ELISA, Western Blot, PCR) and general laboratory skills is essential.
  • Familiarity with MSD platform, spectrophotometry, assay automation is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively.
  • Excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Motivated, critical thinker, and interested in learning how to analyze, interpret, and clearly communicate complex results.
