Dispatch Crisis Specialist

2 Shifts: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday: 12pm - 10pm or 2pm - 12am
Salary: $19.1336 - $20.3575 per hour D.O.E; Will be eligible for a one- and two-year step increase. depending on satisfactory performance

DESCRIPTION

This position will act as a co responder with Abilene Police Department. This position will resolve 911 calls, Crisis Hot Line calls, and Crisis Walk Ins from the Abilene community requesting assistance with behavioral health crisis. Response may be virtual or in person. Crisis Team Leader or approved protocols will determine type of response and priority. When appropriate and available two person behavioral health teams may respond in person instead of law enforcement. Crisis assessments and interviews will inform decisions determining the most appropriate resolutions for individuals with a psychiatric crisis. Will perform crisis assessments for adults and children. Options may include community options with safety plans or inpatient options. The least restrictive environment providing care and safety is considered. To access inpatient options collaboration with law enforcement, judges, and contracted hospitals is required. Must be able to work under pressure with stressful situations while maintaining a professional manner. This employee will use Trauma Informed Care principals when interacting with subject and collaterally involved individuals. Options involving jail diversion are preferred.


QUALIFICATIONS

Prefer previous experience in Mental Health Crisis Work and assessments. Requires Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a social, behavioral, human service or health-related field including, but not limited to, psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human development, gerontology, educational psychology, education, and criminal justice. Prefer a Master’s Degree and a clinical license (LPC, LCSW or other license that qualifies as a LPHA). The qualified candidate will have excellent communication and problem resolution skills, demonstrated effectiveness in working under pressure, can work collaboratively as part of a team, utilize Trauma Informed Principals in day to day work, and can accurately assess needs of customers in a crisis situation.
Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License and be an insurable driver.
CCH(Criminal History check).
