Student Volunteer Research Opportunities

The UMass MIND Clinical and Research Program accepts highly motivated students and trainees at all levels who are interested in gaining clinical and research experience in patients with mental illness. We have multiple ongoing pharmacological or psychosocial clinical trials at any given time. The goal of our research studies is to develop innovative intervention strategies to treat schizophrenia symptoms, comorbid cardiometabolic problems and co-occurring substance use, and ultimately to improve the quality of life in this patient population. Volunteers will assist with a variety of tasks including data management, analysis and presentation, and literature review. In addition, interested students can also help with ongoing clinical trials.

Eligibility:

  • Highly disciplined, motivated students.
  • Students interested to pursue a medical degree or health related graduate degree are preferred.

Commitment: We expect a 6 month ongoing commitment of a minimum 10hrs/week during the school year. Students available during the summer for longer hours' commitment are encouraged to apply. This is an in-person internship at the UMass Chan Medical School Campus in Worcester, MA.
