Global Services and Solutions Internship – Fall 2022- NYC- New York, US

Summary of Role
Operating in the global market place means multinational companies face a variety of different business, cultural, language and regulatory environments. Our Global Services and Solutions (GSS) business is a team of international consultants who help these companies navigate the challenges of multi country complexity. In particular, we help multinational companies develop global/cross-border solutions for the design, establishment, financing, operation, oversight and monitoring of their benefit and compensation programs around the world in a manner that meets the needs of both local and headquarter management. In doing so, we work closely with our local offices in other geographies, as well as subject matter experts in other segments. 
The Role
As an intern you will be assigned to various client teams to assist in providing consulting advice and services to multinational companies concerning retirement and health and welfare as well as broader benefits and compensation issues for their operations globally. You will serve as a resource for associates and consultants in charge of engagements by performing many intricate aspects of their client work. You will have immediate exposure to real client assignments which will draw on your imagination and creativity as well as your ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and present results. These experiences will help build your technical knowledge and overall industry expertise while working in close-knit environment with a team of experts.
Our interns are eligible for a comprehensive actuarial exam study program including paid study hours, study materials and guidance in working towards attaining an accredited actuarial designation. You will also participate in key learning and development opportunities alongside associates.
The projects you will be exposed to during the internship will give you the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in the following areas:
  • Accounting for pension and benefit costs 
  • Actuarial valuations for pension and post-retirement benefit plans
  • Market conditions in countries around the world
  • Benefits due diligence and other support for mergers and acquisitions
  • Project management and coordination
  • Data collection and analysis
  • Communication of results to a non-technical client audience
  • Willis Towers Watson proprietary tools and software
The Requirements
  • Progress towards a Bachelors or Master’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance or any other major with significant quantitative course work, with a strong academic record (GPA of 3.0+)
  • Ideally you have successfully completed one or more actuarial exams
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to ask the right questions and seek help where appropriate
  • Ability to respond to all communications effectively and in a timely manner
  • Ability to work both independently and on client teams and enjoy a fast- paced environment
  • Sense of accountability; owning one’s work and taking pride in it
  • Self-starter; interest in continually challenging oneself and willingness to step outside of one’s comfort zone
  • Interest and ability to think beyond the task at hand and understand how one’s work fits into the broader landscape
  • Strong analytical and integrative skills including ability to draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical, systematic way
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Access and Excel
  • Available to work from September 2022 – December 2022, 40 hours/week
