Postsecondary Success Coordinator (12th Grade)

C5 New England is our five-year leadership program for 8th-12th graders focused on leadership, community action, and postsecondary readiness. Curriculum is centered on youth agency, experiential learning, and a fail-forward culture. Crossroads is committed to closing equity, opportunity, and college persistence gaps through anti-racist practices and interventions.

Position Summary
This position is a Tuesday-Saturday weekly schedule, requiring some evenings, weekends, and overnight experiences. The Postsecondary Success Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Providing high-level, individual Postsecondary Success Advising to select high school seniors (12th grade) and C5 alumni. Our advising program is designed to meet our participants where they are and support them to determine the best course of action for a successful future after high school. We expect coordinators to have at least one touch point per month with every teen in their caseload.
  • Implementing and adapting Crossroads programming during school year events for leaders in Grades 8-12. Postsecondary programming is focused on exploration, experimentation, and determination. The Postsecondary Success Coordinator will also support Leadership and Community Action events.
  • Serving as a member of the Staffing Team: interviewing seasonal staff members.
  • Representing C5 New England and Crossroads at Board Meetings, National C5 Summits, trainings, conferences, Info Sessions and more.
  • During the summer, the PS Success Coordinator will support the programming, facilitation, and logistics of the College Tour and ACT Now Summit programs. The Coordinator will end the summer providing high-level advising to seniors and alumni implementing their postsecondary plans.

Key Responsibilities

Provide individualized advising for high school seniors and alumni:
  • Establish & maintain relationships with program participants and guardians
  • Monitor academic progress & support setting and reaching goals
  • Advise teens & guardians through the exploration, application, assessment, and commitment phases of postsecondary planning
  • Assist teens & guardians through financial aid application processes; organize & facilitate financial aid workshops for families
  • Identify and nominate students for specific opportunities such as jobs, internships, scholarships, and additional programs.
  • Develop and implement individual action plans for teens who need high level support.
  • Build a culture of success, focused on postsecondary planning
  • Work with key partners: school guidance counselors, college admissions staff, and postsecondary program faculty. Advocate for teens as needed.

Create and implement Crossroads postsecondary programming/curriculum:
  • Lead Postsecondary events focused on postsecondary exploration, experimentation, &
  • determination. Facilitate programming focused on: financial literacy, cultural norms, career exploration,
  • and personal responsibilities.
  • Evaluate curriculum to implement feedback & enhance rigor.
  • Coordinate logistics for all Pathway events.
  • Facilitate year round programming, including weekend events, after-school workshops and
  • significant summer experiences for up to 200 youth at a time.
  • Facilitate curriculum aligned with ACT Framework, C5 Outcomes, & Crossroads Learning Stance.
  • Plan and lead college and career site visits throughout the school year.
  • Plan and lead Crossroads’ Road To College Tour signature summer experience.

Track participant plans and postsecondary success.
  • Use Salesforce to track participants’ progress, participation, and outcome measures.
  • Use data to inform advising strengths and areas of improvement.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate across other Crossroads’ departments
  • Represent Crossroads during C5 Selection, partner meetings, Info Sessions, and more.
 
Knowledge & Skills
  • Commitment to youth agency, experiential learning, and anti-oppressive practices
  • Knowledge of postsecondary program application processes, including financial aid
  • Dedication to culturally responsive practices with colleagues, families, and youth
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and succeed in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience facilitating programming or workshops for both small and large groups
  • Ability to travel to communities around Boston: a driver’s license is strongly preferred
  • Strong communication skills, commitment to collaboration, and attention to detail & deadlines

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field or related experience
  • Experience developing trusting relationships with teens from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience in group facilitation, experiential learning, and curriculum delivery
  • Experience advising teens around postsecondary planning (college & career readiness)
