Project Accountant - NOV21-02

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Project Accountant who will be responsible for the preparation of complex billings for commercial and government customers. This individual will also perform accounting tasks and will specialize in Costpoint project setup, accounts receivable analysis, invoice preparation, financial reconciliations, G/L account analysis, and unbilled analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly invoices using Deltek Costpoint accounting system.
  • Build and maintain cross-functional team relationships with Project Managers, Accounting, and Contracts to provide expertise and assistance on invoicing matters.
  • Setup projects in Deltek Costpoint according to contractual requirements.
  • Analyze and reconcile unbilled receivables.
  • Resolve invoicing issues that arise due to unique billing requirements, project reclasses and contract modifications to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of invoices.
  • Submit government invoices using the Department of Defense WAWF software application and other Government online invoicing systems.
  • Research past due Receivables and contact clients to identify issues, make corrections where needed, and obtain payment information.
  • Resolve a variety of internal and external customer inquiries concerning billing status.
  • Perform general accounting duties, as directed, to support the accounting department.
  • Assist with preparation of process documentation for accounting tasks; assist with revising and standardizing administrative procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • More than three years of contracts billing and project setup experience using Deltek Costpoint 7.
  • Experience in federal contracting performing invoicing, general accounting, finance, account reconciliations, and analysis.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting guidelines, contract guidelines, DCAA rules and regulations.
  • Understanding of year-end indirect rate variances.
  • Familiar with all contract types including FFP, T&M, CPFF.
  • Project Accounting, Cost Reporting, and Revenue Recognition knowledge strongly preferred.
  • Must be organized, detailed-oriented, able to manage time and prioritize projects/information, have good oral and written communication skills, data management skills, and be efficient in organized work habits.
  • Must work independently, multi-task with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to demonstrate team player behavior by working well with others and doing what is needed to reach department goals
This position will be located at our corporate headquarters in Old Town Alexandria, VA.
