Data Center Project Intern - Summer 2022 (ID: 1811521)

Interns for this role will be expected to report to one of our data center locations in the Boardman, Oregon and Herndon, Virginia Area. This is not a remote position. We have opportunities open in other locations as well; by applying to this role, we will consider you primarily for this location.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Data Center Project Intern to serve as a technical resource within Amazon data centers. You will be part of a highly creative, efficient team working on challenges in designing, building, and operating Amazon data center facilities. The team is responsible for project oversight and review of all disciplines including electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural. A fundamental understanding of these systems is required, as the individual will be expected to identify areas for improvement as well as act on data provided from other teams and organizations.

Ideal candidates will possess the ability to design, develop and deploy innovative solutions to address operational challenges. This role requires both independent contribution as well as the ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams. The scope of projects includes but is not limited to the improvement of electrical, mechanical, fire detection and building automation system. This position will require the ability to communicate with a variety of vendors, people, and teams with a high level of customer service.

Amazon internships are full-time (40 hours/week) for 12 consecutive weeks, in Summer 2022. Applicants should have at a minimum one quarter/semester remaining after their internship concludes. This position requires the intern to report to work onsite on a daily basis.

Intern schedules are typically day schedules, Monday-Friday. Daily onsite hours could begin as early as 6am.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Actively enrolled in an accredited University pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field with an expected graduation between December 2022 and Summer 2023.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience with SQL, mySQL or similar database languages
· Experience with Excel
· Self-starter who shows good judgment and instincts in decision-making
· Ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Quantitative analytical abilities and problem solving skills
· Proactively and continually improve your level of knowledge about data center relevant technologies.
