Golf Course and Grounds Intern

Interlachen Country Club (ICC) is accepting resumes for the position of Golf Course and Grounds Intern. The Golf Course and Grounds Intern will play a vital role on our Grounds Team by learning and focusing on golf course maintenance, pesticide application, and understanding the operation of the ICC grounds department. Learn more about us at workaticc.org.

We’re excited to have partnered with Andrew Green to recently develop a master plan for the golf course.  Pending approval, a renovation is scheduled for 2023 that will encompass the golf course and capture the character put forth from Donald Ross’s original vision for the course.
 
Interlachen Country Club has also partnered with The Toro Company to be our official equipment supplier and maintain a fleet that is on the cutting edge of technological innovations.  Our team is proud to “Run Red” and utilize the latest tools and equipment to maintain the course.

What you will do: 
  • Golf Course Maintenance 
  • Implement and execute daily maintenance schedule on championship level course
  • Golf Course Set Up – creating unique layout on a daily basis according to golf course conditions
  • Create practices necessary to maintain championship conditions
  • Lead and motivate small crews and projects 
 
  • Pesticide Application
  • Obtain MN Pesticide Application License 
  • Calibrate fertilizer spreader and sprayer 
  • Apply pesticides: walking boom and riding sprayer
  • Fertilizer application: walking spreader and tractor spreader
  • Complete tasks and provide thorough record keeping 
 
  • Irrigation System and Repair
  • Basic controller operation: Toro Lynx
  • Satellite operation: Toro Network VP
  • Pipe and irrigation head repair 
  • Pump Station Operation: Flowtronics
  • Portable sprinkler set-up and hand watering techniques 
        
  • Understand the entire operation thoroughly, including
  • Turf Management Plan
  • Landscape Management Plan
  • Environmental Program
  • Budgeting Process: Operational and Capital Budgets
  • Golf Maintenance Policies and Procedures
 
What we are looking for:
Education & Experience
• Knowledge of the characteristics, growth habits and proper cultivation of a wide selection of flowering bulbs, annuals, biennials and perennial plant materials, including both herbaceous and woody plants.
• Knowledge of the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers, soil conditioners and pest control methods and materials.
• May require current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator
  • Must be 18 years or older
