2022 Graphic Design Internship

2022 Graphic Design Internship (Part-Time)

The graphic design intern supports the Graphic Design team that works with internal clients to communicate across a wide variety of media. The Graphic Design Intern will develop creative solutions that maintain the Mount Vernon brand through visual storytelling. 

This internship is up to 150 hours/semester, with no more than 20 hours/week. This is a paid, hybrid (in-person & remote) internship. Salary is $13/per hour. Target start date is January 31, 2022.

Responsibilities:
The graphic design intern will be responsible for assisting the graphic design team on print and digital projects to achieve company goals. Typical projects include publication production, print and digital advertising, brochures, event collateral, product, website development, and signs. Interns have the opportunity to develop valuable skills while making real contributions to Mount Vernon’s goals and objectives.

What you will learn:
Real world experience with mentoring on:

  • Developing creative, clear, engaging and on-brand designs, keeping business goals and objectives in mind.
  • Building effective creative campaigns.
  • Application of specialty print processes and packaging art files for commercial printers.
  • Interfacing and presenting to stakeholders with designs and concepts.
Qualifications:

  • College major or recent graduate in graphic design, media or a related visual arts field.
  • Solid understanding of design principles and best practices across digital and print.
  • Strong InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator skills.
  • Basic understanding of print processes.
  • Digital photography skills are a plus.
  • Interest in early American history is a plus.
