OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE
- Machinist Mate (MMN): As an MMN, you are the Navy’s nuclear reactor mechanic. It is your responsibility to perform all maintenance on the steam-powered propulsion plants aboard aircraft carriers and submarines to ensure our fleet can move safely.
- Electricians Mate (EMN): As an EMN, you will be responsible for troubleshooting the electric breakers and circuits aboard nuclear-powered ships like aircraft carriers and submarines.
- Electronics Technician (ETN): As an ETN, you operate and perform maintenance on the electronic systems that make the reactor on Navy ships run.
Not only will you get hands-on experience that nuclear techs in the civilian world can only dream about, you’ll be eligible to receive up to a $28,000 bonus for first-time enlistment and up to a $100,000 bonus for re-enlistment.
ENLISTMENT ELIGIBILITY
- 17 - 27yrs old
- U.S. Citizen (no dual citizens)
- HS diploma or college degree
- Successful completion of one year of high school or college algebra
- Qualifying ASVAB score
- Pass a security background check
- Pass a medical examination
EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES
Beyond offering access to professional credentials and certifications, Navy technical and operational training for a Navy Nuclear Technician can translate to credit hours toward a bachelor’s or associate degree through the American Council on Education. You may also continue your education through undergraduate degree opportunities like the Navy College Program and Tuition Assistance and the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
