Human Health Administrative Support

The EPA National Student Services Contract has an immediate opening for a full-time contractor position; Human Health Administrative Support with the Office of Research and Development at the EPA facility in Cincinnati, Ohio.  

Salary: $22.63 per hour.

Travel: Occasional overnight travel may be required, although it is not necessarily anticipated.

Required Skills:
  • Voluntary service, paid or unpaid internships, or actual work experience relating to protecting human health or the environment;
  • Strong written, oral, and electronic communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook);
  • Experience in maintaining and updating information and performing analyses with spreadsheet or database software programs;
  • Experience in performing online searches for academic and other peer-reviewed, scientific literature; and
  • Excellent typing, proof reading, and technical editing skills.

Qualifications                    
  • Be at least 18 years of age and
  • Have earned at least a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Toxicology, Environmental Science, Environmental Management or Policy, Public Administration, or related degree area within the last 24 months and
  • Be a citizen of the United States of America or a Legal Permanent Resident and
  • Provide proof of a COVID vaccination per the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force Guidance for Federal Contractors.

EPA ORD employees, their spouses, and children are not eligible to participate in this program.

What the EPA project is about
The Center for Public Health and Environmental Assessment (CPHEA) provides the science needed to understand the complex interrelationship between people and nature in support of assessments and policy to protect human health and ecological integrity. Within CPHEA, the Chemical and Pollutant Assessment Division (CPAD) develops scientific assessments on human health or environmental effects of chemicals or stressors to inform EPA Region and Program Offices, producing a portfolio of assessment products that serve different programmatic needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Bachelor’s graduate to collaborate with EPA’s research team. Research experience includes:
  • Interacting with staff working to maintain and update literature used for NCEA assessments;
  • Assisting with quality assurance functions and activities;
  • Participating as a member of an inter-disciplinary research team; and
  • Networking and exploring many career paths at EPA.
