Role Overview
Teachstone is looking for Data collectors to conduct observations in Pre-Kindergarten classrooms across the District of Columbia using the Classroom Assessment Scoring System also known as the CLASS tool. These observations are an integral component of the Office of the State Superintendent of Education which aims to provide quality data to classroom teachers and programs. Data collectors must be trained and reliable or willing to be trained and become reliable on the Classroom Assessment Scoring System. Data Collectors must maintain their CLASS certification for the duration of the project and will be required to complete ongoing calibration as required by project leadership. This project would take place in the months of January through April.
MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED FOR COVID-19.

Role Description

Availability:
  • Available at least 3 to 5 days per week to conduct morning observations, from January 2022 and April 2022.
  • Available for mandatory project-specific training throughout the project. The times and dates for project-specific training will be scheduled during the duration of the project.
  • Attend a weekly project check-in meeting. The weekly project check-in meeting will be scheduled during the duration of the project.
  • Complete ongoing fidelity checks as required.
  • Complete data entry and other post-observation work in a timely manner as defined by project leadership.

Certification, Fidelity and Data Collection:


  • Currently certified on the Pre-K CLASS tool OR willing to attend a two-day training and pass an online certification test.
  • Successfully participate in ongoing calibrations and fidelity checks as required by project leadership.
  • Conduct six cycles of CLASS Pre-K observations.
  • Complete post-observation work such as online data entry within 24 hours after each observation.
  • Maintain strict fidelity to all CLASS observation and project-specific protocols through every step of the project, from training and certification to conducting observations, to data entry and record-keeping.
  • Interact in a professional and courteous manner with school administration, office staff, and teachers.
  • Travel around the District of Columbia area, using GPS and other tools to efficiently complete observations.
  • Use online communication and invoicing tools such as Slack, and Bill.com (training on specific platforms provided).


You Bring


  • B.A. degree in relevant field
  • Coursework in early childhood education and/or classroom experience preferred
  • Experience using the CLASS tool to conduct live or video observations preferred
  • Experience conducting observations or administering assessments in school settings
  • Experience in quantitative or qualitative data collection
  • Fluent in English and other languages needed for project such as Spanish, Hebrew, French, Mandarin, and Amharic
  • Pass state/federal background check and fingerprinting
  • Complete Mandated Reporter
  • Provide TB test/ and COVID-19 Vaccination card
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, punctuality, and organization
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion and commitment to education and education research
